We have worked hard to build an excellent reputation for our big, healthy and well-behaved horses for our horseback ride between La Fortuna and Monteverde – plus we are the only company to ride the beautiful and safe trail along Lake Arenal.

You'll travel the old-fashioned way… Our horseback ride is recommended for horse lovers and adventurers of all levels. Along the trail you’ll catch glimpses of the world famous and very active Arenal Volcano and ride beside lush and beautiful rainforest – bring your camera to take advantage of great shots of toucans, sloths, monkeys and more!

This is the best way to get between La Fortuna and Monteverde and we have excellently-cared-for-horses – guaranteed! (Read about us in Lonely Planet, Frommer’s and Fodor’s guidebooks.)

Departs: 8:30am (varies depending on hotel location)

Duration: about 5½ hours in total (sequence varies depending on direction of tour between La Fortuna and Monteverde:30 minute drive between La Fortuna hotel and Lake Arenal; 30 minute boat ride; 2.5 hours horseback riding along Lake Arenal; 2-hour drive between hotel and horses. Your luggage is transported directly to your Monteverde hotel.)

What to wear:  For safety and comfort, please bring secure shoes, long pants, and sunscreen. Please let us know your level of riding ability from novice to expert and your approximate weight and height, so we can properly fit you for your horse.

Includes: healthy, well-cared for horses, horse guides, tropical fruit break, ground transport to and from your hotel (there are a few hotels outside of our normal pick-up zone, in which we have to charge a little extra), boat ride on Lake Arenal, and horseback ride. Helmets and children saddles are available upon request. Please note that although we have nice healthy horses, the horses here in Costa Rica are small in comparison with horses in North America and Europe.  Therefore we have a 200 lb. limit for riders on this tour.
